Franklin Chang Díaz biography

Franklin Chang Díaz (born in San José, Costa Rica on April 5, 1950, holds dual citizenship: Costa Rican and American) is the founder and current president of Ad Astra Rocket Company, a company of US rocket technology, operations in Houston, Texas and Guanacaste, Costa Rica. In July 2005 concluded a successful 25-year career as a NASA astronaut in which he desempeñí 7 spaceflight, the current world record, and in the development of rocket engine, a new space propulsion system of the invention now being marketed. Throughout his career he has vigorously promoted science and space technology in Latin America, aware of the tremendous potential that exists in the region. In 1990, seeking integration schemes and regional cooperation in space technology, led a group of Latin American scientists in the organization of the First Space Conference of the Americas, sponsored by the United Nations and held in Costa Rica. Three similar conferences in Chile, Uruguay and Colombia followed this initiative. Two years later he helped form the project The Chaga Space, the first Latin American regional experiment in protein crystallization in space with medical applications, carried out in two of its missions on the space shuttle. More recently he has been involved in his native Costa Rica, where he leads the implementation of the XXI Century Strategy, a master plan designed to transform Costa Rica into a developed country by 2050. Graduated in 1977 as a doctor in science MIT he is married to Peggy Marguerite Stafford of Alexandria, Louisiana and father of four daughters. Enjoy music, flying and diving. His mother, brothers and sisters living in Costa Rica.

He has received: Outstanding Alumnus Award from the University of Connecticut (1980); Medal NASA Space Flight (1986, 1989, 1992, 1994); Medal of Freedom awarded by President Reagan in the Centennial Celebration of the Statue of Liberty in New York City (1986); Medal of Excellence from the Congressional Hispanic Coven (1987); Exceptional Service Medal by NASA (1988, 1990, 1993); Award for Feats of flying American Astronautical Society (1989); Award for Outstanding Technical Contribution at the National Conference of Hispanic Professional Engineers Awards (1993). He was awarded the Cross of the Venezuelan Air Force by President Jaime Lusinchi during 68avo Anniversary of the Venezuelan Air Force in Caracas, Venezuela (1988). He is recipient of three honorary doctorates.

Doctor of Science from the University of Connecticut and Doctor of Law from Babson College. It Honorary Citizenship of government Costa Rica (April 1995). This is the highest honor Costa Rica granted to a foreigner, making him the first to receive such an honor having been born there.


On August 26, 2013 he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Costa Rica, in a ceremony where the president of the UCR, Henning Jensen, said that "the University recognizes and celebrates academic excellence and power inspiring personal achievements, and reciprocity has had for Costa Rican society ". one

Drugs and Alcohol (DRAFT # 2 E-Magazine)

The problem of drugs and alcohol in the world today is one of the most serious problems especially in young people.
Apparently this problem is generated by a series of scenes from daily life that affect social and moral sphere of citizenship.
However this problem is very alert at the world and our country Costa Rica that is causing secondary problems such as urban crime, family violence, deaths from traffic accidents among other things.
In spite of everything believe it or not international and national organizations such as the IAFA and UNICEF through courses such as Dare try to control and prevent these problems at the youth level and children in order to improve the quality future lives of people.
If our country has the ability to reduce the incidence of young people who take drugs and drink alcohol citizenship of our country would be better and new sports and recreation centers for youth in recovery and prevention of addictions would create.
If the youth of our country were thinking about other things like artistic or sports activities could improve and forget the alcohol or drugs besides go to church to find God would better the lives of these people.
There is the biggest problem with these addictions are traffic accidents which results in some shock or injury or if the accident is very violent can lead to death.
Some activities like playing soccer, mountain biking, athletics can help improve the mental health of people with addictions.
Playing football is important because it helps improve the health of people with addictions that improves respiratory part and the part of the mind and the socialization of young addicts.
To smoke can cause respiratory diseases list such as lung cancer, cancer of the pharynx and larynx, loss of, among other diseases Anzaimer more memory.
To drink alcohol can produce related stomach and kidney besides presenting Fallen memory and behavioral disorders diseases.
Use and abuse of drugs and alcohol by teens is very common and can have serious consequences. In the 15-24 year age range, 50% of deaths (from accidents, homicides) involve alcohol or drug abuse. Drugs and alcohol also contribute to physical and sexual aggression such as assault or rape. Possible stages of teenage experience with alcohol and drugs include abstinence , experimentation, regular use (both recreational and compensatory for other problems), abuse, and dependency.



A teenager with a family history of alcohol or drug abuse and a lack of pro-social skills can move rapidly from experimentation to patterns of serious abuse or dependency. Some other teenagers with no family history of abuse who experiment may also progress to abuse or dependency.


   
























The Waterfalls Garden Costa Rica (DRAFT # 1)

This Paradise is located in Heredia at the mountain behind the Paz Waterfall, it´s a private reserve inside the forest of Vara Blanca. This place is recommended for adventure and environment. Tourism can be national or international.
In this place are food service in one international buffete restaurant named Butterfly and special needs. The reserve has safe paths to walk inside the forest and to be safe and an accident doesn´t happen when visitor’s walks along trip reserve.
The first place to visit is the aviary, this beautiful place around 40 species of birds we can see.
Another place to visit is the refuge of monkeys here one can observe various kinds of wild monkeys.
For example there are kinds of monkeys as spider monkeys, white faced monkeys, and other types of monkeys.
The other place is the butterfly garden where you can find different classes of butterflies.
The next place is the refuge of snakes, this museum around 30 of the most beautiful and deadly snakes of Costa Rica.
Also can touch a snake and take pictures with this snake are not poisonous.
Another place to visit is frog reserve; in this place you can observe a lot of types of frogs.
Other place to go is the jungle cat’s house in this place you can see a lot of jungle cats of Costa Rica and Central America, and the biggest jungle cat in Central America is the Jaguar.
And as soon as we can build another habitat we will bring our Oncilla from our sister property the Springs Resorts & Spa at the Arenal to represent all six of species found in North, Central and Sur America.
The last and most important place that tourists should visit are 5 waterfalls which are surrounded by beautiful nature, green plants and animals.

The only way one could view the falls by literally handing over the side of the mountain, looking through trees and ferns.
